Shadows are fear
Shadows loom and draw near
They are children of the dark
They often snuff out calmness’ last spark
Or they may loom in the day
Changing with the sun’s progressive sway
They are formed from ourselves
But scare the man, and he into his fears delves
They seem harmless in noon’s sunlit sky
But when darkness creeps in, slick and sly
These shadows dig and always find
What truly goes on in a person’s mind
We often use shadows to hide
But with the judgment of others aside
Shadows dig in to the depths of our heart’s desire
It is revealed that shadows are in fact like fire
In the chilling presence of the night
It is a comforting, burning light
The shadow then plays its hidden role
And reveals the content of our mortal souls
