WHEN AM I ALONE?

Author: Annie Mullore

Poem:
WHEN AM I ALONE?

  WHEN AM I ALONE?

When my ā€œIā€ become my eye to rule in
I am gratified to deny the whole on
Hide in me the id and ego to get forlorn
Then I am left as all in whole alone.

When my vision on world and life given
Regret to refuse and rue, on deeds to do
Act to be helpless to face the hapless
I deny deeds to deal, then I am alone to view

Dreams of mine I cherish to flourish
Reject to recognize in thought
That of my near and dear to contain
Then I am alone dreamless to domain.

Beauty of mind and physique even
Virtues of my co-existent, the saint
I wish not to accept the blend of fret
Then I am blind alone to see the best.

In my hands the lamp of truth I hold
Lit and lifted in vast to boast of treat
To show the steps to my co-travelers
Known to myself not when waft out.

My lamp blown out when the wind blew
My ears deafen out when echo heard
Listen not to the verses worth strummed
Then I am alone to the insight to know right.

Unaware I am of the stories of toil
Ventured out from the hearts bleeding
Blocked is my heart to flow kindness
The blood of common resolution to salute

My resolution is of non-co-operation vested
My pleasure is in stained black browsing
Blurring in the stint of jealousy burning
Then I am alone to enjoy nothing in anything

My thoughts are in myself brooding
My joy is always to be in hub of snub
My blooming is in myself glooming
Then I am not in gear to share yearning
When I keep silence timidly to react on
Violence of values precious steadily
Blaming the blues and blazes around
Then I am absolutely alone to respond.

Shared wealth is enriched like
Shared wisdom ensured to flourish
If I know not to share and bear
Then I suit to be alone in crowd to glide.

MEN AND THE MOTHER

Author: Mallika Dhar

Poem: MEN AND THE MOTHER

We built those towers and monuments of stone
With a high hope to touch the heaven and hell-
But only clouds blocked our eyes, air got rarer
We, the mundane human, couldn't breath well.

We blasted off the rocks to find out gold
We found, but not much to satisfy our greed,
Only our holy air and water got poisoned,
Only we forgot our real and true need.

The firy mother laughed at us from lightning,
We mistook that as whistle of typhoon,
We supplied endless souls to sacrifice to her
She gave us both her curse and boon.

Now, we stand quietly under the midnight sky
Full of planets and stars and numerous galaxies,
We realise our true need is only love and light
Then we join our plams and fall on our knees.
