Stupor-The Awakening

Author: Sajan Singh

Poem:
Stupor-The Awakening

The air is still. The moment, frozen.
As time whispers to me in this silence so dead.
It speaks to me of paths I’ve tread,
Of people I see, of deeds I do.
It tells me of roads afore me.
Of tranquil mountains and quiet valleys.
Of the shimmering snow on the hilltops and the glistening water in rivers.
Of the verdant tress in forests. And of the russet sand in deserts.
I listen to this serene lullaby.
Like a child listening to a bedtime tale.
I close my eyes, waiting to sleep.

But something, for sure, is different today.
I am so wakeful. Yet so paralysed. Yet so still.
Its so wonderful –this strange stupor.
This silent tempest. This gentle tornado.
This beautiful twilight. This mute effervescence…

I see sun sinking
Into an ocean, deep within me.
My mind dips me into this ocean vast, dousing me with the thoughts I bear.
It is so strange but somehow so true
That the more I sink, the more I wish to drown.

But TIME pulls me out back to the surface.
And far away on this horizon sans end, I see
A pair of eyes staring at me.
And then they blink.
And then I smile.
For its an assurance,
Of a secret promise.
Of an oath that was sealed, long before me.
Of words that’ll stay alive long after me.

WHY AM I LEFT ALONE?

Author: Anisha Gupta

Poem: WHY AM I LEFT ALONE?

Why am I left alone?
Just because I am different!
Different- because I can’t make any difference?
Why am I left alone?
Just because I am inferior!
Inferior- because I am of low caste?
Why am I left alone?
Just because I look rural?
Rural- because I am poor?
Why am I left alone?
None has ever answered me…………
