Soft beams of rousing golden Peek through the slits of my blinds, beckoning morning to follow And I twist the rod Dancing particles of dust stopping, dropping Falling into dark Prophets of a beautiful now Victims of the desire for a more beautiful tomorrow
I lay Book thick and full of yellowed wisdom Wiggling in hands with juicy promises Of deeper meaning, sharper images, richer wit In stark contrast to bubble gum pop stars That rudely blemish the untainted volume of the untrained mind
I crave And so I peel apart your covers And I run my fingers over your crinkly paper Aged by time Creased with love Worn by life And secretly, your woes sigh into my fingertips But nobody else notices Aand I relish the feeling
Small print Neat and black and flowing in copious currents Spilling down the page Trills down my spine Flutters in my heart Tingles in my toes And my mind, writing with monotony and melting to soft jelly, Gasps and reaches for the steady grasp of the intellectual hand Choking and sputtering from the stark sensation of cold fingers on its back Pulling it up from the dark, chilled waters And purging the porous crevices of its brain of dull gray cobwebs And reaching invasively forward to fill and claim in sharp, crystal detail Startling, like melting ice down your spine And I sink into it, too, with relish And I weep
For, with soft scent of old book Misty and fragrant in the warm air Comes vivid experiences
Piano fingers still As an instrument collapses, weary legs relieved In curls of smoky andante And I hear it
A lusty tongue Curls 'round figure eights of sweet caramel And I taste it
And a man, posh and educated Lounges languidly on a bed Legs curled in silk stockings Eyes sparkling with lucid thought Fat curls resting against lush collar As full lips quirk with amusement Curl in pleasure And part in trembling anticipation Of words, quick and thick with wit, Spilling liquid out of lips like velvet throw pillows Or falling gently with softened eyes Like petals drinking from stray flowers in a sill Voice low and melodious I see him
In life I hear and I forget I see and I remember I read and I feel |

Dear God, I humbly pray That you allow The God Father of Soul, Who fills this casket of gold A quiet place in Heaven How do we judge a man -- Hard work flows through his hands And God dwells inside his heart James Brown created the funky beat He mix the horns and the drums, So he could sing, dance, And glide on his feet He played in a funky band God, you know this man Introducing, Mr. please, Please, Please, Himself, Mr. James Brown
