OH WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

Author: Emeka Odiamma

Poem:
OH WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

The world, what a wondrous God’s art
In its destruction, we all have taken part
But to our detriment yet we refuse the lesson
Can’t we see that our existence’s sun is setting?

Oh where do we go from here?

Will the peace for all ever come again?
Will there be a world free of sorrows and pain?
We are up in self destruction yet we are so blind
Look through the future, there is no hope to find

Oh where do we go from here?

Why do men want their fellow men in fear?
Is there no love left for to us share?
Must it be lies instead of truth should we be telling?
What kind of hell are we making for our dwelling?

Oh where do we go from here?

What about those that love to count the scores of dead?
Why fill your fellow man’s days with dread?
They have the alms to calm the sufferings of the poor
Instead they give them arms to trap them with war

Oh where do we go from here?

It all makes no sense to me when I wonder
Why must we live to hate and fear each other?
What about the media sowing sins to our minds?
Let the truth be told and stop feeding us lies

TRUST AND DECEIT

Author: Roderick Jones

Poem: TRUST AND DECEIT

She cried all day,
and all through the night.
She weeps for her lover
who'd stormed out of sight.

They'd argued in anger,
saying things they didn't mean,
about rumors of a woman
he'd secretly seen.

She stands near the lake,
being frisked by the wind,
thinking of the story
she'd heard from a friend.

A story of her lover
sitting in the park,
romancing some woman
just shortly after dark.

" Should I believe her. "
she whispers in a sigh,
seriously hoping
the tale is a lie.

She bows her head slowly,
her eyes filled with tears,
dreading the end
to a love of many years.

She turns around sniffling
and gazes ahead,
astonished by the presence
of her lover who’d fled.

He stands in silence,
just away in the grass,
with tears upon his cheeks,
his eyes shining like glass.

" I love you. " he whispers,
reaches out his hand,
holding a bracelet
with a sparkling gold band,

" Your friend asked me to leave you,
for an affair with her.
She only told you lies.
She was jealous how we were.

She came to me earlier,
confessing her shame,
then gave me this bracelet
engraved with her name.

Loving another woman,
is something I won't do.
I told her my heart
is only here for you.

I saved this jewelry
so you can really see,
how deceiving your so-called
friend can be. "

She stares the bracelet,
and looks into his eyes,
realizing her friend
had only told her lies.

" I’m sorry. “ she whispers,
and hugs him with a sigh.
He caresses her and says,
“ I’m with you until I die. “
