May God bless and forgive me
For failing to see the sunset's glory.
If it was not because of vanity,
I could have entered the door of victory!
Now's cold and dark and the night bids me to retire,
But I find myself in front of the sea of uncertainty,
Pondering its harsh waves pushing me to the lonely shore.
Still hoping that amidst these drawbacks and mistakes,
I can cross that silver horizon with fervor a-burning!
Oh sister moon! Let your light shine upon my pale face,
And take away its sadness and despair,
For if I had failed brother Sun, at least I have you
And with the stars guiding me in this night's journey.
As I plunge into the cold waters of the sea of uncertainty,
Opposing the waves of oppression, I confess my frailties!
Shout the lonely shore that I am the greatest fool of all!
For in the breaking of the dawn,
I shall start my new journey to a holy and victorious life.
