"sealed with a kiss"

Poem:
"sealed with a kiss"

  “Sealed With A Kiss”
Copyright 2003 by:Amanda Byers

You stand before me with moist eyes;
confidently proclaim your love for me,
asking what your tomorrow’s will bring.

I tell you nothing, my mouth void of words,
your heart so gently placed in my hands,
my jumbled thoughts leaving me speechless.

You turn away, my touch brings you back,
With eyes connecting my warm tears begin to flow,
revealing abounding delight from your spoken words
and the joy in my heart that you would want me.

Asking, “Will you freely give me your heart, to laugh, to love,
to travel with me until we reach the other side for all eternity?
My words inadequate, with deeply labored breath;
with wildly pounding chest; I manage a soft yes,
“Yes, I will walk with you for time and all eternity”.

As I ready myself with purity of heart to seal myself to you,
I pray; “Lord, place you hands and blessing upon me this day
that I may be all things to him that you would have me be”.

“Let there be nothing placed before my charge of him or his of me,
to care for; to nurture and keep our union continually blessed by you.
To be honest in all things, gentle in spirit, kind to a fault that will
seal us together with love and happiness of limitless boundaries”.

“Lord I ask that we share the good days without singular credit,
and the bad days without judgment, never intentionally cause pain.
To be steady companions; accountable to each other; and to let the
joy in our hearts serve as our bond for all our days through earthly days and all eternity”.

Pebbles Like Boulders

Author: Mary Wehunt

Poem: Pebbles Like Boulders

“Pebbles Like Boulders”
Copyright c 2003 Amanda Byers

Misunderstood words tossed about
onto the sea of hopes and dreams;
Giving cause to tidal wave, disparagingly
dragging into dark depths all longings, all hope.

The sea swells, tugging the sole; division,
Overshadowing intended meaning, turning,
twisting about until all clarity is lost.
Trusted truths becoming mistrusted losses.

Beyond the swells, longing for understanding
to cure the division of sole from body;
as promised, to me, but to be no more.
Becoming dark, deeply sadden breaks of trust.

Truths lost, words tossed like pebbles from the sea, but
landing as heavy boulders in my hands and on my heart,
crushing, pushing you just out of reach, no cure to find.
No more time to quite the angry sea, for you and me. Gone.
