The weakness of the earth broke through, came through,
blew through, then I saw you
The sky was still and pale as gray
while the trees snapped, while the birds tapped
Sounds like someone yelling, yelling as if to say
"Why have you called for me, I cannot heal this day."
Come with me, kneel down to pray.
The day I do recall, for it was in late fall
A rare day for the Lord to call, but a day to stray
You were tumbling behind - so evil your look was kind
I wish you would've fell - fell into that clay
Then you'd be stuck with me to pray.
But your sunken footsteps vanished behind me
I heard your heart beating, I felt your soul weaping as we continued my way
So now I shut my lips from quivering, I warmed my bones from shivering
And I heard myself say, "come with me to the dirt road to pray-
Beneath the drunken sky to pray-
We need to pray."
I then grew frightful; although His presence was delightful,
I turned and said, "Does one like yourself believe in little miracles in May, -
or find pleasure in the birds who've tapped, the trees that have snapped, -
during church sermons have you ever clapped, clapped because you're proud or God's given day, I am sure you are that person." - then I ran out of things to say
It is almost time to show you why I pray.
The dirt road was just ahead, I could tell your soul had ben fed
You were dancing, singing songs He wants you to sing to vanish all gray
From the stormy skies, from the grieving eyes
And I wanted so bad to hear you say
I would give anything to hear you say
"I want so bad to kneel and pray!"
Then the raging winds started blowing, the sacred land started glowing
I turned to you, you unsuspecting lonesome stray
"Are you ready," said I, "ready to witness something quite astonishing?"
I gestured to you, mouthed at you to join me so we could heal the day
I gestured once agian for you to help me heal the day
Kneel down now young child and pray!
Down to the wet ground we fell, then, to keep alive the greatest story to tell
I would pray and she would repeat, oh this miraculous day!
I am going to show her the power of prayer; how disgraceful our lives would be without prayer
I will show this child that the Lord pushes no one away-
I will show her to never push Him away-
Oh, how glorious it is to kneel and pray!
I rose from the ground, the child was now crying
I could tell her faith in Him was here to stay
Now I touched the sky, I also began to cry
The sky turned to blue from gray-
The moon began to shine, the stars began to twinkle, but yet before it was gray!
See what we can accomplish, have faith and pray!
