Two Poems from our Inspirational Poems, Motivational Poetry Collection

Grandpa

Author: Stacey Mathenia

Poem:
Grandpa

  My grandfather is an angel.
God took him so he could be.
But everyday I look into my children
it is actually my grandpa that I see.

Megan, my oldest girl,
has his witt and his glow.
She says things beyond her years
and speaks to him, this I know.

Tristan is my little boy,
the only one of this clan.
I know my grandfather is watching
especially for "his little man".

Dakota is the baby
the last to come to be.
As I watch her play and talk,
It's hard to believe she is only three.

My grandpa had to leave,
to be in a better place.
But grandpa if you can hear me,
I still can see your face.

I can feel your hand on my shoulder,
when I seem to have lost my way.
And when I need to keep my witts with me
I look back to you and find the words to say.

You truly are an angel,
God took you so you could be.
But the true gift of all,
was allowing you to stay with me.

Drops of stellar

Author: Jenny White

Poem: Drops of stellar

People think of ways to run
They find ways to hide from what used to be all they loved
The best way to go at that fork in the road
Is through the stars

So easy to get lost in
And they’re always there
The best way to forget how lonely you are
Is to put you amongst 10,000 stars

And the beautiful part is
That you wont be able to find yourself
You’ll be so bright that you shimmer with the stars
You feel so close, even though they are so far

And all that will be left for you
Is to sleep with the stars and let them
Tuck you in and sing you to sleep
Only to find yourself alone again

Where people tell you that you’re taking it so well
That said they knew you’d be better off alone
And you know they are right
But all your soul wants is someone to love

You know the past is past and you fine with that
But you ready for what’s next
The stars have nourished you in your rest
And you can feel something pulling you out of the sky

And as you fall you wonder where you will land next
In whose arms will you be dropped
In whose hands your heart will lie next
Who will drench your heart with love and squeeze the light out of it taking only what they want from it

Leaving only drops of stellar
Small diamonds that are nothing compared to what you don’t know you are
Akin to the stars that reflect in your eyes
Making you realize that it’s no surprise

And at that point you feel it
The pull of the moon
And you know once and for all its for the better
It makes you stronger

The love you give is only what they take
And they keep it with them knowing you’re the one the one that wasn’t fake
And the one that will stop before taking all you can give
Will free you from the stars.
