Two Poems from our Inspirational Poems, Motivational Poetry Collection

Grace

Author: Edgar Downer

Poem:
Grace

His grace and love cannot be compared
To any marvel you see out there
Out in a world he created for you
To have dominion and prosperity too
But you throw it all away in the wink of an eye
From that day forward, you began to die
Separated from someone pure and true
To get what you want, now what will you do?
Lust was your motive I can plainly see, but
Did you think of the consequences?
Did you think of me?
Was it worth the price to eat from a tree?
That would destroy your posterity
Now we are all desperate to find that place
Where there was peace of mind
Void of bloodshed, void of crime
Where all souls are entwined
Around the grace that baffled all mankind.

The first day of the rest of your life

Author: Marissa Roberts

Poem: The first day of the rest of your life

The doors of the fragrant church are opened slowly
As the sunbeams and God’s grace shine softly down on you
Once you were here before
When you could barely grasp the door
An amusing smile spreads across your face as you think
Of the day when all you liked to wear was pink
The days of purity and girlhood all wrapped into one
On this warm spring day when you once again feel young
If all those people weren’t there staring at your taupe face
You would shed the veil and the frilly lace
Go back to those days when you didn’t have to race
But though life has gotten harder your heart has stayed the same
Gaining nothing from this world - only love and purity - not fame
The man of your dreams is in near site
Waiting on the other side - but you don’t have to fight
He loves you with a love as pure as you have for him
There is nothing left to hide - no horrible, unknown sin
You have told him everything there ever is to know
And now because of your love for him - to the whole family you will show
How you love him for who he is and not what you see
Of course the looks do help but don’t compare to what’s hidden underneath
You love him for how he seems to understand
And how he always is there to hold your hand
Boredom and wealth neither matter at all
Since you’ve both been through so much together and can’t quite seem to fall
You realized that you truly love him
And that if you weren’t married soon, you would fall into sin
After hours and days of constant prayer and days of conversation
God had chosen you to be this man’s other half and even last name to mention
So now, as you take your first step towards the rest of your life
You ask yourself one question as you move forward to be his wife
“Is this the man who God has chosen for me to spend my time-
Living and forgiving and opening up my mind?”
I smile as the warm air of late spring brushes my tanned and smiling face
And I take my first step forward toward a life of married pace
