With a cold stern look upon his face,
Hitler came up with the perfect race.
His biggest fears were those of the Jews,
To them, this all came as bad news.
Rooms were packed and the left their homes,
Their ill-fated trips would have them skin and bones.
The ghetto's where they would temporarily stay,
Though they all knew it wouldn't last this way.
People died of hunger and disease,
The Nazi's they knew they would have to please.
Lying and backstabbing would get you through,
Otherwise everyone already knew,
A journey that could make an impact,
on their lives, and they had to face the fact.
The time came and they were loaded into,
Cattle cars, although it was cramped they made do.
People were sick were the flu and lice,
Grandparents, children, husbands, and wives.
When the endless ride came to an end,
The camps are where they knew they'd spend,
Countless hours doing nothing but work,
For a man they'd come to know as a jerk.
The days grew longer and they grew weak,
Survival came to those who were meek.
And the people died, to the ground they dropped,
The pile grew as they were thrown atop.
Word spread about that the horror was done,
Liberation day had finally come.
Their tears of fear and their tears of sorrow,
Became tears of joy because they knew tomorrow,
Freedom would come on a joyous day,
But not without a small price to pay.
Family and friends they will never see,
Ran through their minds as they were finally set free.
They live their lives, but they will not let,
The horrible truth we shall never forget.
