Children lay motionlessly under the ashes left behind from a grueling earthquake
Houses, close by, tremble with fear, as they are flooded by a nearby lake
Forests, far and near, spread into flames, caused by a carelessly misplaced match
Only once in a million, will a person leave such a disaster, bearing no scratch
Throughout our lives, bloody wars and conflicts will arise
The actions of our leaders may sometimes take us by surprise
Throughout it all, our mouths are sealed, and we believe they're doing it for the best
So with unnerving caution, we put our oblivious minds to rest
Death will always surround us, at school, and even at work
Unruly death caused by the shot of a gun, the stabbing of a knife, or even the prongs of a rusty fork
The irony of all this is that most of us seem to ignore reality, not caring even a bit
Instead of trying to cheat death, we foolishly try to embrace it
We are idiotically flushing our own species down the drain
Foolishly destroying our own kind, we must refrain
