Success is based on hopes and dreams.
Unrealistic though at times they seemed.
But I’ve stuck it out through thick and thin.
I know where I’m going and I know where I’ve been.
On my way I had much to learn;
Before I got to who and where I am,
These things I had to earn.
I’ve worked hard to accomplish my goals.
Jumping over hurdles and falling into holes.
After traveling from shore to shore,
I’ve gained a career and a whole lot more.
I have a roof over my head that I can call my own.
I have clothes on my back and knowledge that has grown.
Moreover, I have someone who loves me,
A future together with whom I see.
All these things I am grateful for
And it shows in my smile;
My sense of accomplishment and pride
I had searched so long for
Mile after mile.
