Deadly love

Author: Heather Doran

Poem:
Deadly love

Your love is poison to me. I hate and love you at the same time. Your hands are like ice when the touch me. YOur voice is a nightmare. You said you loved me and I would be safe always. You said you would protect me from all pain and danger. But can you protect me from you. From your control and your pain. I stay wit you because you are my drug and I have grown needing to your putdowns and pain. You thought I would never leave. You thought I would never tell. You kept me locked up like a prisoner in my own home. But those vows we made are soon to end because I'm leaving . You are a drug that has poisoned my mind. Made me always think bad of myslef. I couldn't let go I couldn't leave. You had an invisible fence around me. Your mind is poison your words are poison. But guess what my mind has soon cleared your are soon to be a past memory a past nightmare. Me and you are over, over for good.

My mother's poem

Author: Melanie Skinner

Poem: My mother's poem

You've been my friend and my protector
Keeping me safe and warm
Fought battles for me and guarded me through storms
Guided me through puberty and into womanhood
Telling and teaching as only a mother could
We've laughed and talked, fought and cried
Not then, but now, I see how you tried
To teach me the things a christian should do
Who to stay away from and who to turn to
When I needed direction, you led the way
Giving advice so I wouldn't go astray
All the sacrifices you made, you thought I didn't know
Keeping your head up so your suffereing wouldn't show
Sitting up at night, worrying and crying
Working hard for your money, spending and buying
I'm thankful and grateful for all you did
But I didn't realize it until I had a kid
I remember as a child I wanted to be just like you
And now that I'm a mother, I still do!
