The world bruises her knees before you their god,
Known, worshipped, and served more than our God,
A regular lover from the very start,
Owns the entire world the greater part.
Even a mad man's your worshipper,
He would skip more than a grasshopper
At the sound of a dropped coin,
Or the crowded market place he would join.
At the center of your seducive spell,
Creditors and debtors hotly sell,
So tightly with selfish concrete claws
Has towards yourself the whole world draws.
This god has an unforgetable name, MONEY
Whether it's rainy or sunny,
In your search no man's lazy
And with you the very rich are crazy.
Money would appease a rebellious faction
In Ceasar's Rome and quench the action
Of a rightful and hungry raid,
If well pleaded and richly paid.
O money! let's obey your common rule,
When you're absent, investment can't pull.
I know your value is to make ends meet,
Men spy you to dress their tables with meat.
With you men construct pride and power,
They render frank voices still and sober.
"I can kill and pay", that's how they boast
In the night, when with evil deeds raise a toast.
Ah! you propel me to do what I never wished,
Every day my appetite explodes with a new dish
Until all is gone. Then a feeling of pain
As my dreams and ambitions fail.
With you I can draw up a list of fields:
Firms, honor, castles, and settle heavy bills,
Own all the rights to abuse communities,
Or spy to rise at power's point of impossibility.
What are you money? But a mere processed paper
Or metal, has swayed away fools from their Maker.
Blood for blood, habouring insantiable greed,
The root of all evil. That's your real breed.
