Two Poems from our Inspirational Poems, Motivational Poetry Collection

Alone

Author: Kristine Smith

Poem:
Alone

No on really noticed her at first
She was sitting motionless looking down at her feet
The sort of girl you see and then look away
Without thinking twice about it
A few people did peer at her though as they passed by
And had thoughts to themselves
One shook his head gravely
And walked on not knowing her situation
She is a statistic to him and many others
Viewed with derision and disgust
Unable to understand what is happening
To our misled youth and loved ones
She is someone’s daughter, sister, and niece
The list goes on and on
But she is sharply judged more by family and relatives
Than any stranger passing in the street
Our young friend is waiting for a bus
To take her to a clinic on the other side of town
So she can have the abortion
That she believes she must have to save herself
Barely fourteen, she has a sweetheart from school
Her parents had forbid her to see
But love felt so right and rebellion so strong
That they made that huge mistake
The parents became angry at them both for disobeying
And the feuding families were nothing short of fierce
Every day cutting remarks slapped her face
And the insults were too much to bear
Soon she began doubting her self worth
Her self image was shattered to pieces
And she began to think of ways to escape the pain of rejection
This is where most of us start blaming the parents
Or saying laws and schools are responsible
For our children having children
Or in this case not
But what really drives a young girl to have an abortion?
Fear, peer pressure, ignorance?
No one really knows
Perhaps if someone had taken the time
To put their arms around our young friend
And told her she is still loved
And that her precious cargo is an amazing miracle
That millions of couples around the world
Wish for every day and reach out to with open arms
Her little girl would still be here

A SHOWER OF STARS

Author: Emilie Grey

Poem: A SHOWER OF STARS

All fears disappear into the mist
Stars twinkle above and shine
Night falls and pale moonlight shields us
Silver light fills our eyes

Memories of old times fill my head
Crystal drops begin to fall
A light rain washes away all doubts
In your arms I know I am safe

A light appears on the crashing waves
They have come to take us to the Sea
All our hopes had seemed to fade
But now I foresee a new beginning

More adventures to come as Autumn leaves
Winter cold comes and we shall see starless night
Bitter rains shall follow us but in dreams
I shall see your face and all will be well

The mountains may crash into the Sea
And my days shall seem to end
But you shall call to me from the dark of night
I shall rise and we shall crash into......

A shower of stars!
