Those Times When
So often in the past I thought about you and me
And why some things could never be
We both were young and foolish then
Do you remember, my love, those times when?
Our lives have often crossed in the past
Ever so briefly and never to last
I ask my self each and every day
Why, dear Lord, did it happen this way?
The smile of sunshine upon your face
Making me feel so blessed by your grace
Your sweet kiss upon my cheek
Made me shiver and afraid to speak.
Lying beside you in your bed
Many thoughts of you went through my head
Thoughts of tenderness, love and affection
But I was too afraid of your rejection.
Yet something told me deep inside
There was no place that I could hide
We sailed on together, and then we drifted apart
These feelings for you were kept locked in my heart.
Many times through those years I kept on praying
As I would let you go without ever saying
Not having the courage to say the words we all fear
By giving you freedom, hoping that would keep you near.
Never knowing if there would be another day
That you and I could just slip away
Into an ocean of blissful love
Sent only to us from heaven above.
We both were so young, happy and free
Is this time now, just for you and me?
To catch up with those beautiful days from our past
Making this moment, a moment to last?
I believe in my heart that God meant it this way
For us to wonder each and every day
By offering another chance for me and you
Is he testing us now to see how we do?
Let's not disappoint him this time around
Making sure our feet are firmly planted on the ground
We are older and wiser then we were back then
Do you remember, my love, those times when?
