Two Poems from our Mother, mom, mommy Poetry Collection

The pain

Author: Kara Brandl

Poem:
The pain

My life is filled with a void-
One in which can't be replaced-
The day I lost my mother, my friend-
It was like a slap in the face-

Taken away so quickly-
Just a blink and she was gone-
No one could have known-
That it would happen the day of my prom-

She was coming home to see me-
All pretty and dressed in red-
If only she would have stayed another minute-
Maybe she wouldn't be dead-

But the negligence of a company-
And the stupidity of another-
Unhooked the trailer from the truck-
And then it killed my mother-

That day is such a blur-
Denial filled the air-
I cried so many rivers of tears-
It just isn’t fair-

She was so full of life-
So why did she have to go-
I just don’t understand-
She never hurt a soul-

I guess I'll never understand-
What really happened that day-
The day I lost my mother my friend-
And the pain that won't go away.

The never ending child

Author: Patricia Chapman

Poem: The never ending child

I took a mothers oath to love and protect with utmost respect the child that I conceived. I walk with my head high because I have a special pride, a child that has trust in me, the child that I conceived. Don't mistake times are hard because my child was deceived, the child that I conceived. Sometimes mothers only see what's good and not so bad. We blind ourselves to what they need and forget the mothers oath, the child that I conceived. Stop and listen for the child that screams in silence for the mother that should be, the child that I conceived. I sit at night and stare at the child that God has gifted to me. I give my child love and protection when in need... What a mother's oath should be, the child that I conceived. Respect I give my child, the same is returned to me. I'm the mother my child needs. The Mother's Oath you take with the child you conceive, the never ending child. Maybe the child is me?
