10 REASONS 2 THANK U

Author: Jasmine Mckee

Poem:
10 REASONS 2 THANK U

  Thank u cause u were there when I needed u;
Thank u cause no matter what I know u care.
Thank u for putting up with me cause at times
I can be a real pain.
Thank u for having patience to mess with me cause there are few who do
Thank u for understanding sometimes I just don't get it.
Thank u cause no one has been able to change me the way u did.
Thank u cause u know exactly what to say, even if it's,
How are u today
Thank u for forgiving me all the times I hurt u
Thank u cause nobody loves me quite like u!
Thank u cause through thick and thin u have always
Been there, but most of all thank u for just being u!

DEAR SOLDIER'S MOTHER

Author: Sharon Bagnall

Poem: DEAR SOLDIER'S MOTHER

I know we don't know each other
but I wanted to talk to you; mother to mother
I heard what happened to your son today
The news took my breath away

I know how very sad you must be
although he was a stranger, it was also sad news for me
My country lost another hero, you lost a son
How I wish this tragedy could be undone

I wish I could thank all our brave soldiers
That's exactly what I would have told yours
I know you are a brave woman as well
the fact that you are a soldier's mother is how I could tell

Just like you, there are so many other ones
Our freedom protected by their daughters and sons
Uniforms and guns adorn their girls and boys
when not so long ago they were home playing with toys

Your sacrifice is how our freedom has been achieved
and by this whole nation your son will be grieved
So if someone asks, don't be afraid to say it loud,
That you are a U.S. soldier's mother and that you are very proud
