I believe in miracles: in a dead man coming to life; in two people locking eyes, falling in love, the first time; in an idea so impossible, so unbelievable; like a blind man seeing through sparkling eyes or a glistening spring in the desert.
I believe in bliss: in total and complete happiness, not an unhappy thought in the world; in flowers in the spring and the beating heart of a small child; in all of the icy glaciers of sadness melting away.
I believe in searching: in pursuing the un-findable; in hunting for the thing you long; in fantasizing reaching your ambition; in a young girl following after her goals and dreams; in a mother hawk glimpsing her children’s dinner.
I believe in sorrow: in grief, gloom, despondency; in the glaciers of pride, joy, happiness, love, melting into the earth; purely empty of all warmth; cold and barren like a desert at night; leaving unable to keep the goals and loves kindling in the fire of our heart.
I believe in the truth: in an innocence that very few possess; a life that very few hold; that sense of being, infrequently experienced by humans; in an honesty as pure as spring water.
I believe in companionship: a precious gift very few receive; a soul mate, a chum; a friend never duplicated, a pair never matched; like sand on a beach or birds in the sky; something rare and unbelievable.
I believe in love: in a person so totally fallen for another person that logic and presence of mind disappear when around each other; like a mother and her newborn son; a never ending bond of adoration and affection; a feeling as endless as an infinite pit.
I believe in innocence: a state of inexperience, of un-knowing, of bewilderment; not unlike a runt kitten, opening its eyes, for the very first time, seeing the world, but not knowing it, breathing the air but not tasting it.
I believe in life: an experience only the luckiest receive; a wisdom of a range of emotions: pain, love, death, happiness; an occurrence in the truly extraordinary people; the heroes, the children; a shining star, bright as the smile of an infant.
I believe in the future. |

HAND OF FAITH (DEPARTING CONFIDENCE) |

trembling fingers jeweled with jade polished silver, bare half-moons grasp the pen (a bic without a plume) and fill the pink and peony page (with edifying grace) words that tumble past her lips (as if a wrapping on a gift) aorta ink that flows and prays without a blot or smear (she suffers to resist drops not one single tear) seals the verse and psalm (without a postmark or a kiss) stuffs the pouched epistle on the bed between the sheets ignores the ringing phone - a man of blackened eye and mead - (stills her bleeding hands before she rises to her feet) hurries out the door half-moons indented in her knees
