MOON KILL

Author: Maegan Barrone

Poem:
MOON KILL

  I cry with somber.
My tears descending as fast as a falling star.
I lay awake in my bed;
In the emptiness of my cold and drafty, dark room.
Looking through the slit in my drape,
I watch the glowing moon shine a vivid, red color.
As though to kill.

My tears steadied to a silent weep
My eyes closed
I dreamt of a new land
I stood under a weeping willow
Staring at a grave
Trying to make out the name on it
But I ran out of time.

The wind was tugging at my hair.
It was pulling me towards the grave’s pit.
I fell down, down, down;
Into a damp, dark place.
I finally found out whose name was on the grave
Even though I hadn't the time to read it.
Was this grave for me?!

I suddenly woke up.
My drapes were wide open.
The moon shone in;
I shut my drapes.
But when I turned to go back to bed,
The light shone in again.
This time...
Brighter than ever!!!

I was about to turn around again
When I woke up.
The drapes were shut,
I then noticed that they weren't the drapes in my bedroom...
It was the cover of my grave.

SHE CAN BE

Author: Sara Edwards

Poem: SHE CAN BE

She can be mean, and very cruel. She can be funny, and very cool. She can be careful, and overly cautious. She can be a clean freak, it makes me nauseous. She can be loving, and very caring. She can be a risk-taker, and very daring. But of all the things that she can be, my most favorite of all, is her love for me.
