ATISHA BUDDHIST CENTRE

Author: Lee Emmett

Poem:
ATISHA BUDDHIST CENTRE

high in trees, songs of birds
fast running stream can be heard
near clear water, magic’s around
small gold fish, black ants abound

lilies of cream with centres of gold
opening like hearts, on water unfold
love for all creatures comes forth to greet
power of universe lives at our feet

dragonfly flits, body iridescent blue
rests in bright sun on stem of green hue
flags blow gaily in warm summer breeze
clouds form and dissipate above ironbark trees

in long distance rises healthy mound of plants
friend generally works there with quiet reverence
Australian flag rustles outside Gompa beyond
woman strides purposefully past clear pond

different dragonfly with burnt orange back
flies off course nearby, gently resumes its track
Atisha Buddhist Centre whatever the season
place of divine rest, meditation and pure reason

people walking, chatting and being
alone or together, beauty they’re seeing
transforming themselves, spread from above
gratitude, kindness, compassion and love

EACH NEW DAY

Author: Lee Emmett

Poem: EACH NEW DAY

each morning start and meditate even if sleep in too late
sets mind in peaceful frame ready for next part of life’s game
sunny day walk out to meet whatever life-form comes to greet
flowers growing at bare feet - sight is wondrous, fragrance sweet

let wide smile replace tight frown, birds from trees are calling down
tiny wings of butterfly flutters erratic trail towards dragonfly
beauty and magic everywhere flourish, open eyes so as to nourish
spirit living in bountiful nature - worship, enjoy heavenly creatures
