The clouds seem different today
High miles above the streets sprinkled with trees
Far away
Still not far enough think I and fall to my knees
There's more distance now more space
Between they
And I seated on this grass comforted yet my face
Seems ashamed, embarrassed by my display
The clouds evolve in shape as I stare
That is another world a distant dream
Up there
If only we could meet think I what stories we could share - it would seem
I love the clouds as they are
Out of reach unspoilt by us unharmed looking down
So far
Wonder what they make of us? This town?
Distance is beauty, invisible the decay
Of this place, my street, this land
If the clouds could speak, what on earth would they say?
Whatever however it was… we wouldn’t understand
If they spoke, away we would run, get our guns
Shoot them down
Send for our sons
Create another war, overhead, above my town
