Two Poems from our Nature Poetry Collection

BREAKING

Author: Raphael Martin

Poem:
BREAKING

  The storm blasts out,
From its innermost,
Depths a shout,
A howl of ghost,
A wail of tormented breath.

The wind and rain,
Hail and sleet,
With mountain
And hill do meet,
In deepest ever night.

Nature all around does shake,
The trees bow down
The river soon will make,
Last year's crown
Of water's peak.

The ground soaks up,
Like a sponge placed in
A water cup,
The rain, like sin,
But there is always more.

The window glass
Is such a pain,
It breaks quite fast
Under force of rain.
Like it, the storm has broken.

Kosmosis

Author: Joyce Hudson

Poem: Kosmosis

Jump down thunder
Let me hear you roar
Jump down lightning
You smile, so I ain't smilin' no more
The raindrops are cryin'
The rainbow is hidin'
And the sun slidin' in
Is about to score
The stars stole their twinkle
From a can of glitter
Hail is upset 'cause
Patter left pitter
The man in the moon
Is late on his rent
We can't see his face no more
'Cause the milky way is bent
Venus and Mars
Want to go out on a date
But the Earth in the middle
Cockblocked them to stalemate
The heavens abound
With a cosmic force
Sonic booms from the Creator
Must follow their course
Meteors break off and
Fly away
Burning and yearning
They
Greet our wondrous atmosphere
Jumping down
Roaring through
The day is clear
