West-Settle Publishes Collection on Contemporary Spanish Poetry
Professor of Romance Languages Cecile West-Settle has published "Contemporary Spanish Poetry: The Word and the World." Co-edited by Sylvia Sherno, a lecturer at UCLA, the book is comprised of eleven essays by colleagues and former students of Andrew P. Debicki, an authority on Hispanic poetry. The diverse volume, which covers Spanish lyric from the post-Civil War period to the present day, is a tribute to Debickis continuing influence on the field of Hispanic poetry. 10

Medieval Castelian Poetry

Poetry (from Spanish literature) -  Encyclopædia Britannica
Poetry (from Spanish literature) Rubén Darío, Latin America's greatest poet, took modernismo to Spain in 1892. In general, Modernism was a reaction against 19th-century bourgeois materialism and a search for other and more specifically aesthetic values of life. Darío's Modernism greatly enriched the musical resources of Spanish verse, notably by a daring use of new rhythms and metres.
