The Way Only God Can
At night, he closes his eyes,
But does not sleep;
For his mind is on the sheep.
Hardly a sound from the pen,
And he is there to protect.
Before dawn, he is up,
Drawing strength from above;
Leading the flock to a perfect abode,
Knowing they must feed right;
If they must flourish and grow.
He counts them as they file out,
Touching them tenderly,
Watching them lovingly.
If one goes astray or is missing,
He sets out on a finding mission.
A shepherd’s job is not easy,
He must guide and guard;
The way only God can,
He must feed and nurture;
The way only God would.
There are different kinds of shepherds
Functioning at various capabilities;
From parents and guardians at home,
Teachers and prefects at school,
To leaders and mentors at work.
But, there is a shepherd,
Given by the Good Shepherd Himself,
Destined to build fulfilled lives for God.
Without this Shepherd, life would be
A walk through a dark tunnel of turmoil.
Amongst national leaders and achievers
Whom we honour and regard in our society,
He must be given the utmost recognition,
For he’s the one that loves and gives,
The way only God can.
