Mothers Love

Author: Barbara Dingess

Poem:
Mothers Love

There is no love that can compare
To that which began with prayer.
A mother on her knees did plea
Interceding for her family
Oh how blessed we all have been
And to this there is no end
Each one of us now on our knees
Adding to our mothers pleas
Our children and their children too
Escape that wrath that will ensue.
Though we all have made mistakes
That one prayer has kept us safe
We all know that prayer of love
Went straight up to the throne above
The loving God my mother served
Saw a clean heart and observed
That mothers love so tender pure
Her reward a family safe and secure

A Childs Eyes

Author: Barbara Dingess

Poem: A Childs Eyes

The Father put a small child
in my path today
I watched as people passed him by
and hurried on their way
He opened up his small hand
which was clasped around some small change
Then he looked at the shelves
which were so neatly arranged
He took a step forward
pudding cups had caught his eyes
He walked to the checkout
his little head held high

He opened his small hand
with a question in his eyes
The clerk just shook her head and let out a sigh
I saw the smile leave his face
as he walked back down the aisle
The look on his face
was no longer that of a child
He would not let it bother him
he went back to the shelf
He would try it again
no matter how he felt

I had been looking so far ahead
at the vision You had given me
I was blinded by the splendor
and so I failed to see
There was a work that I had to do
from now until then
To be a mother to a small child
and to those alone a friend
To share hope to the hopeless
and help to the one in need
To strive to walk as You walked
and to help plant your seed

Oh Father forgive me
for the ones I failed to see
When I have been so wrapped up in my own life
That my eyes were not on thee
For all those I passed by
as I walked from day to day
all those opportunities
to witness and to pray
There are so many lost and dying
and they are begging to be set free
Help me to be a vessel
to be used Lord by Thee
