A Childs Eyes

Author: Barbara Dingess

Poem:
A Childs Eyes

The Father put a small child
in my path today
I watched as people passed him by
and hurried on their way
He opened up his small hand
which was clasped around some small change
Then he looked at the shelves
which were so neatly arranged
He took a step forward
pudding cups had caught his eyes
He walked to the checkout
his little head held high

He opened his small hand
with a question in his eyes
The clerk just shook her head and let out a sigh
I saw the smile leave his face
as he walked back down the aisle
The look on his face
was no longer that of a child
He would not let it bother him
he went back to the shelf
He would try it again
no matter how he felt

I had been looking so far ahead
at the vision You had given me
I was blinded by the splendor
and so I failed to see
There was a work that I had to do
from now until then
To be a mother to a small child
and to those alone a friend
To share hope to the hopeless
and help to the one in need
To strive to walk as You walked
and to help plant your seed

Oh Father forgive me
for the ones I failed to see
When I have been so wrapped up in my own life
That my eyes were not on thee
For all those I passed by
as I walked from day to day
all those opportunities
to witness and to pray
There are so many lost and dying
and they are begging to be set free
Help me to be a vessel
to be used Lord by Thee

I Took A Trip

Author: Barbara Dingess

Poem: I Took A Trip

Do not weep for me for I am not gone
Do not sing me sad songs
It is only a trip I took before you
I am just on my journey home
Do not worry my friend Iwill see you again
When your work on earth is through
I will wait for you just outside the gate
And together we will walk through

It is time for me to rest for a while
This body now feels no more pain
Iam now at rest with the saints of old
Together we will rise again
Continue the work you are called to do
Spread joy and love where you can
Make plans for the trip
you all must take
To that beautiful promised land

There is a trip we all must take
When our work on earth is through
We will all meet again on heaven's shore
Where the sky is always blue
There we will not cry nor feel no more pain
No parting there will be up there
We will live up there on heaven's shore
No more worries no more cares
