In the Company of Strangers

Author: Joan Benson Peterson

Poem:
In the Company of Strangers

  Good Lord have mercy-
I have my regrets
in the company of strangers
I can't seem to forget.
For I can slip by
unnoticed by them all.
Like a bird I could fly
and no one could even call
my name.

Good Lord have mercy
as I look away from pain...
in the company of strangers,
I'm sheltered from the rain.
And when I close my eyes
I see their faces still...
their tears fall from the sky
according to Your will,
which will be done.

Good Lord have mercy
when my words cut like a knife
in the company of strangers
who have known me all my life.
Let my mortal anger cease
that I may know the Truth
of a heart that welcomes peace
with words that lead to You...
You are the Way.

Good Lord have mercy
when evil beckons me.
In the company of strangers
make me blind that I may see
how we all for all belong
together with our Lord,
Who will right our every wrong
and cast away the sword
in His Name.

Lord in Your mercy
may Your Love set us free
in the company of strangers
that all of us can see
that the only living choice
is life cast in Your Light
that we all may hear Your voice
calling through the darkest night
or brightest day.

Good Lord have mercy
and open up my heart
in the company of strangers
that our lives may be a part
of Your loving glance
that sees us all as one.
You invite us all to dance
into Your Kingdom come...
Thy will be done.

MY WORTH

Author: Gail Kay

Poem: MY WORTH

I am but a grain of sand
On the seashore
I am but a speck of dust
On the earth
I think that I am nothing,
But GOD knows my worth.

He calls me His child
And He tells me,
I will nevermore walk alone,
For His Love is always with me,
Guiding me safely Home.
