A PRAYER

Author: Pushpalata Venugopalan

Poem:
A PRAYER

  Dear Lord!

Let me fail before I succeed,
For success better I may savor;
Humble I may still be,
And always in sight may You be!

Let me fall before I rise,
Struggle I must to reach heights;
In honest glory I be crowned,
For what price success that rides on favors?

Let me be poor before I be rich,
My spiritual goal I never lose sight;
The worth of riches I’d better comprehend
And my whole world do not the riches become!

I LIFT MY EYES TOWARDS MY GOD

Author: Helen Zarocostas

Poem: I LIFT MY EYES TOWARDS MY GOD

Stand upon the mountain and look towards the sea
Watch the sunset colors, the animals roaming free
Walk a silent bush path and watching as you go
a spider web, an orchid, beautiful things that grow.
See a ship out sailing, an angler with his hook
Take off to the library and pick a really good book.
Listen to your music, written and played with care
Look and learn me darlin' God is surely there.
Dancing, singing, laughter, joys of life to feel
emotions near the surface, all of them so real
Love for one another as God would have us be
Love between the nations, begin with you and me;
This is where my Church is, I don't need four walls to pray
I worship not just Sunday, but everywhere each day.
