As I stand
At thy behest,
Dear Lord I pray
You see through my transgressions,
Inequities and sins that cursed
And left me a mottled offspring.
As the time comes
For my judgement pronounce,
Dear Lord I pray
You grant me mercy -
In abundance,
And forget the trail which I leave,
On my way home.
As my eyes close
To the beauty of the setting sun,
Dear Lord I pray
That no longer will I be blind,
But forever more
See through the haze of eternity.
As I come home
On the eve of that glorious day,
Dear Lord I pray
That with open arms I am received,
To once again feel
The precious warmth that is love,
Dear Lord.
