Two Poems from our Sad, Grief, Sympathy, Broken Heart Poetry Collection

UNBORN

Author: Deni Parkes

Poem:
UNBORN

You didn't see the Christmas lights, sun, stars and moon Or green grass,
Lush plants, hear sounds of music. See rushing clouds travelling, claps of thunder, wonder at deep blue sea
Feel sand between your toes, or taste snowdrops
From heaven, look up at flying machines, gaze drifting boats
Salty tears, snotty noses, feel first crush
First kiss or first love.
Daddy playing Piano, Taste chocolate, scream on
Rollercoasters, chase fearsome dragons,
Pour over fables, feel running water on your skin
Love Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty ,and
Cinderella.
Brilliant colours in your eyes
Hear shrieks of teenagers
Your sisters' laughter, shake in dance, scream at concerts,
All past in a blink of an eye,
but you
Remain untainted by life.

ETERNAL GRIEF?

Author: Riham Dabapu

Poem: ETERNAL GRIEF?

You have seized my heart with your words.
You have ripped my soul from the core
You have taken my peace and my sanity.
Can’t I keep anything of mine anymore?

You promised to come when I needed you
Where are you now when my utmost needs arise?
Where is your protection? Where is your love?
Because living with your memory just doesn’t suffice.

The nights drag on for ever and ever
To stop myself from crying, I strive
Even the bright rays in the morning
Fail to bring happiness into my life

You told me to close my eyes and rest,
And that you would remain right here beside me.
But now that I have at last opened my eyes
Your promise was a lie as far as I can see.

They told me you were dead and gone,
And a horrible pain seared my mind
They told me you were freed from this world.
I stumbled as though I were blind.

But that’s something I will never believe.
At least until I am still living this life
Because when my life itself is gone
Tell me how can I remain alive?
