RACHEL'S STORY

Author: Shannon Moore

Poem:
RACHEL'S STORY

Her life was a grand story
Filled with triumphs and tragedy
Courageous to the bone
Our very own morning glory

A dear and close friend
Forever she will always be
In my heart she remains
Oh how can we ever mend

The Cancer spread with a vengeful force
Secretly known by a few
Consuming her fragile body
Towards an unimaginable course

She was beautiful, gracious and kind
Helping friends overcome hurdles
Putting others before herself
A rare and precious find

She soared like a graceful dove
Touching all she came upon
Meeting her soul mate at 16
The one she was meant to love

She molded courage to a tee
With every breath she took
Not complaining in the least bit
The strongest person all could see

She fought with all she had
Loving life continuously
Not giving in to death
Never succumbing to feeling sad

Her life was a spectacular dream
Ending abruptly too soon
Leaving us loving memories and dreams
Floating like an angelic beam

An angel in disguise
Rachel’s spirit shall live on
Teaching us lifelong lessons
Making us all stronger and wise

A HERO THAT HAS BEEN PUNISHED

Author: Quintus Athaudha

Poem: A HERO THAT HAS BEEN PUNISHED

A hero that has been punished

Who else could be
a better hero ?

You have
sacrificed a live part of your body
to save the innocent life
of your daughter.

You who could rejoice in suffering
at the very thought of your sacrifice
have been punished by snatching
what you cherished to keep the lamp burning.

You have ignited
the wrath of God
for disobeying his will

You have been maimed for life.
You have been condemned
for trying to distort the creation
by trying to correct an error of the infallible.

You are a hero to me
no other can equal

I am made
a mere morsel of a human
by your audacity
in challenging the maker
And you would have never thought
that the victim would be
an unblemished flower at the alter.

Q.Senevibandara Athaudha.
