A HERO THAT HAS BEEN PUNISHED

Author: Quintus Athaudha

Poem:
A HERO THAT HAS BEEN PUNISHED

A hero that has been punished

Who else could be
a better hero ?

You have
sacrificed a live part of your body
to save the innocent life
of your daughter.

You who could rejoice in suffering
at the very thought of your sacrifice
have been punished by snatching
what you cherished to keep the lamp burning.

You have ignited
the wrath of God
for disobeying his will

You have been maimed for life.
You have been condemned
for trying to distort the creation
by trying to correct an error of the infallible.

You are a hero to me
no other can equal

I am made
a mere morsel of a human
by your audacity
in challenging the maker
And you would have never thought
that the victim would be
an unblemished flower at the alter.

Q.Senevibandara Athaudha.

GOD BUT GRANTED YOU WINGS

Author: Richard Cook

Poem: GOD BUT GRANTED YOU WINGS

This day, God but granted you wings
You will see heaven and amazing things

You're here in my arms, I now must release
You will fly on tiny wings of love and peace

I wish I had wings, this would be my dream
Together we'd fly over fields and streams

I must be realistic when I look ay your sweet face
This journey you must take alone in God's good grace

It's very hard for mom and dad to say their last good-bye
We'll look for your tiny wings anongst the stars in the sky

Your wings will sparkle and the Angels will sing
For this day, God but granted you wings.
