Two Poems from our Sad, Grief, Sympathy, Broken Heart Poetry Collection

Through the tears

Author: Nicole Lorrigan

Poem:
Through the tears

  Through the Tears

The way I love you
I cannot describe
No word has been spoken
That could ever explain the way you make me feel alive
No heart has been broken
That could equal what has now been contrived
Through starlit midnights
I wander
My feelings I try to understand
Alone and weakened
I sit and ponder
I can almost see myself in the palm of your hand
Memories flood so deep inside
I shiver then lose my breath
Recalling when last you made me cry
Inside my mind was death
Salty tear drops moistened my cheek
Makeup smeared around my eyes
For far too long I was so weak
Through the tears I saw it otherwise
From my window I peek
I stare
Our eyes met and I cast a loving glare
You're in my heart
I know just where
I try so very hard to make you aware
So thankful am I that you came my way
Your shining light crept in and chased the shadows away
I opened my heart to you that day
In there my love is where you'll stay
You hold me so gently in your protective arms
Together our hearts beat a similar song
Sheltered with love from all of life's harms
In a moment like this nothing could be wrong

Black

Author: Jessica Gross

Poem: Black

There you lie...
In the Shadows,
Barely alive.
Despite my best efforts,
You are slipping away...
Slipping from the world,
From your soul,
From me.
You cry,
Reaching through the enclosing darkness,
Reaching for something to cling to,
Grasping at nothingness.
The Shadows,
Slow and threatening,
Begin to take form.
A figure emerges,
Hooded, faceless.
It moves to your bedside.
All is still,
For only a second,
As the blackness of death
Stares you in the face.
A sudden movement:
Metal flashing,
Preceding a silent scream.
Blackness.
When I awake,
I am surrounded by light.
A mighty voice resonates
Through the tranquil stillness:
"Welcome to your eternity..."
