Two Poems from our Sad, Grief, Sympathy, Broken Heart Poetry Collection

Losing dad

Author: Kori Beilfuss

Poem:
Losing dad

It had been a bad day but it only got worse
She told me the news and I started to curse
"Why doesn't he just let us be?" I thought
He only makes living more distraught
So I said a little prayer that night
When the moon came out and the stars shined bright
I prayed to please, please let him go
For the man he is I no longer know
I try each day to love and cherish him
But all the good memories and love have scattered to the whims
"All the good things will come back when he's gone" they say
And for this I also hope and pray
Because I don't want to lose the daddy I had
Losing him now is already too sad

Where Were You

Author: Ed Martin

Poem: Where Were You

Where was your pretty smile
Every time I walked down that little isle
I haven't seen you for a long while
I'm writing you a song just to see you smile

Where were you last night
I was waitin at the movies, standin by the light
Lookin for your pretty eyes
But as i looked, all i saw were cars passing by

While I was waiting at the mall
I ran around the stores, all the while calling
Out your name, everyone stared
But I didn't care, I just wanted to see you

I waited outside your house
In the rain, Oh how I could feel all the pain
I was missing you, wasn't the same
I just wanted to see your beautiful face

While I was walking outside
All the shadows I passed by tried to hide
I walked down by the cemetary
And then I finally knew all the reasons why

Down by a tombstone by my foot
Your name, it rested on the soot
Scratched into a stone still warm
My heart, then broken from the whole
