Two Poems from our Sad, Grief, Sympathy, Broken Heart Poetry Collection

Silent tears

Author: Geoffrey Scrimager

Poem:
Silent tears

the statue of the angel stands tall with it's head up
bright white marble and carved with perfect detail
the world grows around it, things change the statue doesn't move
the years go by the statue ages, mold grows and it weathers
ignored for years weeds grow up and surround the statue
the angel cannot be seen and it cannot see the outside
time goes by the detail begins to fade
the bright white marble is now dark, dirty
discovered by accident, the weeds begin to be cleared
as the weeds disappear, the statue starts to see the world again
the angel takes one final look at what the world has become around her
she lowers her head, closes her eyes, and prays
the statue of the angel begins to cry silent tears
never to be heard but can be seen in everyone

Beauty for ashes

Author: William Christian

Poem: Beauty for ashes

Give us beauty Lord for ashes, the ashes of our lives.
Our lives seem like a dream, of another place and time.
A mighty fire has swept them, and all that's left is found,
in a pile of burning embers, laying scattered on the ground.

A lifetime burned to ashes, every work has fueled the flame.
Every dream and hope and labor, the fire has come to claim.
The bridges burned behind us. No future is in sight,
Oh that we could find some beauty, in these ashes of our lives.

Blow hard upon these embers Lord, til we see a tiny flame,
That it might shine a light for us, as we start to build again.
Give beauty now for ashes. We make with you a trade,
The ashes of our hurting lives, for the promise that you've made.
