Two Poems from our Sad, Grief, Sympathy, Broken Heart Poetry Collection

19TH CENTURY COLORS

Author: Lacy Lebkowsky

Poem:
19TH CENTURY COLORS

A murder was committed the 1st of May.
A man was charged and locked away.
During his trial Justice fell behind;
The innocent was proven guilty this time.
His testimony revealed the truth so clear,
A truth the jury refused to hear.
They decided when they saw his face-
A color of a different race.
So not to go against their own,
They let the guilty man go home.
He will go unpunished, having been so cruel,
While the man in the jail cell feels like a fool.
Looking to God, questions fill his mind;
"Why can't these people be colorblind?"
Unfortunately, this man's only sin
Was the darker color of his skin.

Why do we have feelings?

Author: Telora Goodyear

Poem: Why do we have feelings?

Why do we have feelings?
Why do we have to cry?
Why do we have to laugh?
Why do we have to say by?

Why did you say I love you,
when you knew it wasn't true?
Why didn't you just stop,
before I got to love you?

Why did you wait so long,
to show the monster that was inside?
Why didn't you show it before,
before you made me cry.

Why did you take her away?
You tore up our nice little home.
Why didn't she just stay?
Why didn't you leave us alone?

You made my father mad at her,
you made my mother cry.
You made my little sisters sad,
you make me want to die.

She was my best friend,
I miss her so very much.
I miss hearing her voice,
I miss feeling her touch.

Can't you bring her back?
Can't you take away the pain?
Can you make the sun come out,
and wipe away the rain?
