Two Poems from our Sad, Grief, Sympathy, Broken Heart Poetry Collection

What If

Author: Shannon Ribblett

Poem:
What If

What if I thought about it
before I went and did,
Nothing would have happened
and you would've lived.

What if I wouldn't have written the letter
and you were still here,
Would things still be the same
or would they all be weir?

What if I would've kept all
my feelings to myself,
Would you have found out
or would you just have felt?

The way I felt about you
the way I looked at you too,
What if I just left you alone
would you still do what you do?

You were like a friend to me
until I went astray,
You became more like a father
until it melted away.

Something happened along the way
and then things heated up,
We became way closer
and then we drove it up.

We went away in the car
and drove all the way,
We ended up in Canada
and then time with you slipped away.

That's why I wonder
what if I would've stayed,
Would you still have taken your own
and left me alone to stray?

I guess it didn't matter
If I was there or not,
Things wouldn't have been different
and you still would've hopped.

But I guess time goes on
and the days do as well,
We all still think about you
And hope you're very swell.

I will do what you ask
An dstrive for my do's
I will make it just for you
And prove I'll never lose.

No matter what happened
you're still in my heart
I will nevr ever forget you
and we will never part.

I love you
sweetie

Abuse

Author: Jessica Kilfoy

Poem: Abuse

I lay there silent,
upon the cold floor,
staring out through the open door,
the ceiling is falling,
I've been calling,
but you've yet to return,
you left me to burn,
this was our broken home,
but now I'm alone,
child running wild,
papers are not filed,
you left me this morning,
I knew anger was forming,
but why'd you take it out on me,
that's not the sort of father you're supposed to be.
