MOTHER WITHOUT A CHILD

Author: Farrah Eash

Poem:
MOTHER WITHOUT A CHILD

I am a mother who on July 23 of 2004 won't bring a baby home,
A mother who got a baby that can't be shown
"So you're a mother with a child that no one can see?"
I am a mother "Tell me how could this be?"
I am a mother, I had a baby, he was inside of me.
I speak a name of a child that never got to live
I have a baby, he just lives within heaven.
My son, my baby, he watches over me and he hears me when I speak his name
Although you must think that I am insane.
But you don't understand I really don't need you to
I am a mother just like you and you.
I know you can't understand and it's really so simple to explain
but you can't understand you have never felt my pain, of having someone look at you
when you mention your baby's name and them saying "Who?"
Like I said, I am a mother just like you
I never got to hear my baby cry, but I am a mother, my child just lives in the sky.

AUTO-DA-FE

Author: Eddie Soto

Poem: AUTO-DA-FE

The child’s anguish has made her languish.
The child endured a callous curse.
Where was her divine nurse?
She dies because of her avail.
Phallic was her veil.
Now she’s in iniquities jail.
Gallic little girl.
Guardian to her faith.
Now a praised saint.
A halo was her paint.
The inferno is what made her faint.
Serve your shores.
Fight your wars.
You shall have holy doors.
Your struggle will bring some king trouble.
Your life was so subtle.
Because of your rebuttal.
