Two Poems from our Sad, Grief, Sympathy, Broken Heart Poetry Collection

WHEREVER YOU ARE

Author: Lynsey Paterson

Poem:
WHEREVER YOU ARE

I doubt that you remember much,
Or at least hope that you can't,
I hope you managed to block it out,
when mum used to rage and rant.

It felt like you were my own 2 kids,
Even though I was only 7 years old,
It was me that took the bruises for you,
When you didn't do what you were told.

It was me that made your bottles,
Changed your nappies, put on your socks,
Me that spend all day lookin' after you,
Cos our mum was too outta her box.

So i never went to school much in P1 & 2,
Cause she couldn't be bothered to take me,
And when i did go i got 1001 questions,
About the bruises the teacher could see.

Course i always got them from falling,
Or walking right into a door,
Or tripping over a stupid toy,
and cracking my head on the floor.

I think she skipped by you with her anger,
Because you showed her that it was sore,
But i tried not to let her make me cry,
Which just annoyed her even more.

I guess someone managed to see through it,
And phoned the social work woman,
And you's got taken straight into care,
And i had to go live with my gran.

But still you're my brother and sister,
No matter whereever you are,
And one day i know that i'll find you's,
No matter how near or how far.

SORROWFUL TIMES

Author: Jalisa Johnson

Poem: SORROWFUL TIMES

So many sorrowful times
So many writings to rhyme
Am I looking in the wrong places
For friends with true faces
As hard as I try
I'm left to cry
There is really no one to understand
Even if they can predict what I'm thinking by taking my hand
My intuition ruins my future fun
It tells me times to hang
Times to run
Those who you thought were true
Turn your whole life blue
Outside is the most beautiful person ever seen
Inside is a cruel person all so mean
So many sorrowful times
So many writings to rhyme
Am I looking in the wrong places
For friends with true faces
