Whad did Ruth build his house with

Author: Robert Miller

Poem:
Whad did Ruth build his house with

Out of the first seven games
you took one and we took six,
so now tell us Yankees
now wheres your bag of tricks.

It just goes to show you
money cant always get what you want,
and wheres your great bambino
to do his job and haunt.

Remember,it takes heart and talent
just to play this game,
and it's not always money
that earns you fame.

Your club has always
had what you needed,
and many times for this reason
your team has succeeded.

With so many wins,comes money
and something that we call greed,
which in turn gives you the urge to go out
to buy more that you dont need.

Again and again and year after year
whos to say your spending too much,
but could this be the reason
that your team is losing it's touch.

Every year in Ruths house as a Yankee
You always expected to win,
but you might want to take a second look
because the Boston Red Sox are moving in.

THE CAN'T MISS KID

Author: Mark Rumsey

Poem: THE CAN'T MISS KID

The boy could do it all
A local legend as some would say
Hit, throw, run and field
Man, this kid could really play

He could do the over-the-shoulder catch
Or hit one a country mile
Run like the wind
And throw runners out with a smile

The scouts came callin’
Who is this kid from the Iowa corn
We have to get this boy signed
Their new star had been born

He was the answer to their prayers
A young buck from the farm
A country boy smile and an iron clad chest
A sure thing he was, loaded with skill and charm

It was not to be, the can’t miss kid
The lord had taken him away
Such a great smile, such a future star
The farm took his young life, one hot summer’s day

The can’t miss kid is just a memory now
Only a few can still remember his name
His tombstone reads, the one that says it best
“Our Young Star, He Loved The Game”
