Two Poems from our Sports Poetry Collection

Skating

Author: Linda Chew

Poem:
Skating

  A graceful sport
such is skating
it so lovely
goes with dance
Elegant gliding
in beautiful costume
while the audience
watches in awe
The judging panel
so sorely watches
to catch
the most minute flaw
Skaters brave the test
they've practiced
for years to be the best

The Season

Author: Robert Miller

Poem: The Season

Cheers heard loudly
clapping hands,
popcorn,peanuts
and hot dog stands.
Lines,gates
bats and balls,
infield dirt
and outfield walls.
Batters box
catchers,hitters
pitchers mounds
sliders,splitters.
Chewing tobaccos
gums and seeds,
media coverage
division leads.
Digital scores
scoreboards lit,
never expected
timely hits.
Pleased,happy
irate faces,
bad calls good calls
stolen bases.
Homepark energy
glory sings,
division titles
championship rings.
