Two Poems from our Sports Poetry Collection

Mr. Double

Author: Robert Miller

Poem:
Mr. Double

  They call him Mr. Double
also known as Mike Lowell,
for a while he was quiet
but he's now on a roll.

It seems as though that everytime
he steps to home plate,
he hits another double
and his swing is never late.

He's superb at third base
the way he covers his ground,
he's probably th best third baseman
the Sox have ever found.

His offense is good
and has improved as of late,
but his defense has always been
nothing short of great.

His reactions are quick
there is no doubt,
just look at the way
he throws runners out.

His throws are precise
and always on the mark,
where ever he throws
when inside that park.

He has been a great addition
to the team we all know,
i just hope the sox see it
and never let him go.

He's a distinguished looking man
and has face full of stubble,
with his salt and pepper hair
he is Mr. Double

Rise Up!

Author: Deanna Dilley

Poem: Rise Up!

LeBron dribbles down the court.
He shoots! He scores!
The crowd goes wild.
Cleveland Cavaliers
have landed the playoff spot!
Coach Brown holds the trophy up
for everyone to see.
The trophy's then handed
to the #1 player,
LeBron James.
Fifteen years have passed us by
since the Cavs have had a
chance to Rise Up!
Knocked out the Pistons;
but how about the Spurs?
Cavs are down 3 and 0.
Tonight is game 4.
Will we make it?
Soon we'll know.
So come on Cavs;
LeBron, Sasha, Boobie and Z
It's time to show
Cleveland fans how we
all can Rise Up!
Go Cleveland Cavaliers!
You can do this as a team.
All that needs to be done
is for you to Rise Up!
