A Little Boys Dream Come True

Author: Robert Miller

Poem:
A Little Boys Dream Come True

A little boy that never played before
but about baseball his feelings were immense,
watched one day as a game was played
from the opposite side of the fence.

This little boys wish was to stand at the dish
and be able to take a few swings at a ball,
to be the one there and hear from his ears
the umpire making the call.

Through the fences holes he saw his goals
but to him they seemed far away,
he then thought that he'd never touch a bat
and simply went on his way.

While walking alone he started to roam
and ended up on the pitchers mound,
as he looked down he heard a cheering sound
so he lifted the ball from the ground.

When he lifted his head the manager said
what are you doing out here,
but before he could speak he could hear the crowd leak
the sound of them starting to cheer.

He saw it was the begining of the ninth inning
and he thought letting him pitch could not hurt,
so he turned to the young lad who looked kind of sad
and said here boy! get to work.

With every pitch he threw the batters swung through
but never could hit the balls,
my god did the crowd ever get loud
when they heard all the strike calls.

With nine straight pitches the crowd was in stitches
they just could'nt believe their eyes,
every pitch he through out the batters struck out
he was a pitcher on the rise.

This little boys dream was'nt as it seemed
it was never that far away,
because of a nice soul he in a way reached his goal
by letting him pitch that day.

Baseball Heaven

Author: Robert Miller

Poem: Baseball Heaven

A little boy that played baseball
would always practice but never rest,
because he only wanted to someday play
with the very best.

Then one morning he awoke
to go practice for a game with his team,
but when he arrived at the field
it's grass was no longer green.

It did'nt look in anyway close
to the way it was the day before,
and his team mates were now all different
and there were so many more.

When he was going to take his position
he saw so many team mates that caught his eye,
they were all that of baseball legends
that he was passing by.

He thought how was it even possible
that these greats could be there to play,
because he knew that they were all
the baseball legends that passed away.

He walked up to a player
who he thought might be Babe Ruth,
to get answers to what was happening
and he only wanted the truth.

The player thought that the easiest way
to tell this young boy at the age of eleven,
was to tell him that he over worked his heart
and came to rest in baseball heaven.

To rest is now all the boy could do
because last night he passed away,
but God granted him more than his wish
he could now play with the best everyday.
