Baseball Cards Remembered

Poem:
Baseball Cards Remembered

  Remembering baseball cards
they were so much fun,
when we bought pack after pack
in search for a special one.

We'd search for our favorite players
stars and rookies,
and the no names were put in a box
that no one ever see's

We'd buy them,collect them
and trade them too,
they would give us as kids
so much to do.

We'd attach them to our bikes
using clothes pins,
because it would make them sound
like motorcycle engines.

Then there were the cards
that we all got for free,
they came out of the boxes
of hostess cupcakes and twinkies.

We also could find them
in loafs of wonder bread,
that our moms always bought
when we needed to be fed.

There were so many different cards
with which we bought or made swaps,
but if i remember correctly
the most popular was topps.

Whether we saved them,lost them
or just threw them away,
i'm sure it's going to hurt
to see what they're worth today.

If we only knew as kids
what we know now that we've grown,
we might have even been able
to buy a team of our own.

Even though we missed out
because as kids we did'nt see,
the baseball cards remembered
were a great memory.

Lefty The South Paw

Author: Robert Miller

Poem: Lefty The South Paw

From down on the farm
he rose to the majors
a young kid and south paw he was,
through the spread of word
he was amazing they heard
so they went to see what he does.

When he pitched from the mound
they heard howling sounds
from the balls as each one passed.
the balls were just gunned
and the batters were stunned
by the pitches that went by so fast.

The batters had nothing at all to do
but watch the pitches he through
just dancing all over the plate,
because whatever pitch they'd select
they just could'nt connect
because every swing was far too late.

An incredible arm is what this kid had
and would be one for the record books,
so when you read bout the game
watch for his name
wich is ironically lefty brooks.
