Lefty The South Paw

Author: Robert Miller

Poem:
Lefty The South Paw

  From down on the farm
he rose to the majors
a young kid and south paw he was,
through the spread of word
he was amazing they heard
so they went to see what he does.

When he pitched from the mound
they heard howling sounds
from the balls as each one passed.
the balls were just gunned
and the batters were stunned
by the pitches that went by so fast.

The batters had nothing at all to do
but watch the pitches he through
just dancing all over the plate,
because whatever pitch they'd select
they just could'nt connect
because every swing was far too late.

An incredible arm is what this kid had
and would be one for the record books,
so when you read bout the game
watch for his name
wich is ironically lefty brooks.

The Rally Cap Walk Off

Author: Robert Miller

Poem: The Rally Cap Walk Off

It's late in the ninth inning
your teams down by a run,
only one out left
they just need a run.

To keep the game going
and play extra innings,
to give the another shot
another chance of winning.

The fans take their caps
that they are already wearing,
turn them inside out
and they start cheering.

This is said to be a rally cap
an old supirstition,
that when done at the right time
can help your team win.

All the fans looking like idiots
while watching from the stands,
when the big guy steps up
with his bat in his hands.

We've seen this so many times
a repeat sitiuation,
and like he's always done
he causes another celebration.

The pitch was released
he watched it come in,
then extended his swing
for another walk off win

There's nothing like that final second
in that final hour,
when you feel the rally cap energy
and the Papi Power
