A Mans Dying Wish

Author: Robert Miller

Poem:
A Mans Dying Wish

I once met an old man
on his dying die,
who's only wish
was to again play.

The game he loved
and has missed for years,
not just a game
but was his career.

After retiring his number
for eveyone to see,
it was there he missed most
and always wanted to be.

Out in the field
being part of a team,
this to him
was the ultimate dream.

His dream came true
but in time had to end,
to him it was like losing
his very best friend.

He had his hands in prayer
with everything he told me,
just praying to the heavens
there was more baseball to see.

Our Soldiers

Author: Robert Miller

Poem: Our Soldiers

Here comes our soldiers
on to the battlefield,
armed with all their weapons
and their helmets that will shield.

Protect them from any mishaps
while in place or on the run,
from the enemy that try's to strike them
with their loaded gun.

Our soldiers take their positions
and are placed all around,
two are sent to the frontlines
to protect and man their ground.

The gunner stands high on a mound
so he has the perfect view,
of his commrade that hides behind the enemy
the one that give his cue.

When to fire and unload his gun
to be sure he's not late,
for his chance against the enemy
that he must eliminate.

Our other soldiers in the field
stand ground in front of a wall,
to protect the spectators of this war
from the dangers of it all.
