Angels

Author: Katalyn louis Parks

Poem:
Angels

  He paused.

Looked into the sky expectantly,
And sure enough there was nothing to see,
His arms were shaken, his knees were weak,
But he knew he was on a winning streak.

He threw the bat down and started to run,
Squinting his eyes to escape the rays of the sun,
He checked the opposition and they frowned,
As he rapidly approached the home base mound.

The crowd went wild fighting for the ball,
As I heard the commentator's call,
Behind Vladdy Guerrero I saw the crowds cheer,
Then I heard the words "It's outta here".

THE LONDON MARATHON

Author: James Thompson

Poem: THE LONDON MARATHON

Upon the path prepared for fun,
and begin yet another London run.
Athletes gather at the start,
just next door to Greenwich Park.
A countless crowd taking their part,
as joggers jolt and dare to depart.
Upon straight routes of Shooters Road,
many athletes slowly flowed.
Gradually breaking apart from the pack,
and finding space to create a crack.
Covering a start of five or so miles,
to Trafalgar Road within the trials.
The Cutty Sark is close at hand,
along a sharp bend upon the land.
Forced forward for Greenland Dock,
and keeping an eye upon the clock.
The trial beside the Thames to see,
a standing bridge to break and flee.
Along the highway straight and clear,
helped along by such a cheer.
Spectators there to support and view,
and guide along the pathway through.
Canary Wharf found close to reach,
for many athletes to share with each.
A vessel of water upon the stall,
taken for thirst and prevent a fall.
Twenty miles of total track,
covered with care, now turning back.
Along the Highway athletes appear,
and many watchers to see and hear.
Four miles remain of the long run,
not feeling now to be great fun.
Victoria Embankment approached direct,
to complete the route totally wrecked.
Signs of Westminster come into view,
and a hugh crowd to see one through.
The final mile lies forth to recieve,
plus the finish for one to perceive.
As a closing line comes into sight,
together with such a feel of delight.
Relieved to reach the total length,
also the medal for motive strength.
Twenty-five miles achieved to assist,
a charity in need and not to resist.
