fifty years later pool dignitaries RSL and Shire and local committees
celebrate achievement community amenity whole area uses it a wonderful facility
kids once swam from creek’s clay banks with red fin and leech in Yarriambiack
breast stroke and back stroke mums and dads show crawl and dog paddle yabby biting toe
Warracknabeal resurgent after World War 11 families growing up there wanted better pool new
everyone fund-raised in innovative ways raffles and dances and comic cabarets
Anzac memorial park considered best place to locate Olympic pool brightened every face
trades people helped and volunteers too service clubs involved banded as building crew
women’s auxiliaries also played their part local groups and schools gave project kick-start
film footage of pool opening shows whole town turn out vital town asset enjoyed by all about

worse now: unknown was manageable now have to start again discover moving feast don’t even know where the table is everything’s changed except desire - basic feeling behind shadow creating absence silence is more than unendurable because no finality or closure - as it’s called nowadays just unwillingness to take steps towards mutually acceptable position so left again worse: knowing presence fearing approach
